Improving home WiFi in Mallorca
The router your provider left sits where the fiber came in, not where you need the signal. Add a second floor, thick stone walls or a terrace at the back, and the coverage runs out long before the house does.
The router in the living room does not reach the rest of the house
Houses here do not make it easy for WiFi: stone or sandstone walls, thick floor slabs, floors joined by one narrow staircase. The provider’s router is built for a small flat and sits wherever the cable arrived, so the signal fades two rooms away no matter how fast the fiber is.
Measure first, decide afterwards
We do not propose equipment before knowing what is going on. We measure the signal where it fails, plan on the floor plan where each access point makes sense, and measure the same spots again at the end to confirm the change. If the cheapest fix is moving the router, we will say so.
What it includes
- Signal measurement in the areas where it currently fails
- A check of what actually reaches the provider’s router
- Planning on the floor plan of the property
- Installation of managed WiFi 6 access points (Omada)
- Cabling to the access points where needed
- Roaming between floors: your phone switches point without dropping
- A guest network kept separate from the household one
- A final check in the same spots measured at the start
Repeater, Mesh or access point
Repeater
The cheapest and the one that ages worst: it repeats the signal it receives, so if it receives a poor one, it spreads a poor one. Most also halve the speed.
- Fine for one specific corner
- Will not fix a whole house
Mesh system
Several units that talk to each other and share the house out without needing cable. The sensible option when running cable is not viable.
- No building work
- Depends on the distance between nodes
Cabled access points
Each point gets its own wired connection, so none depends on the previous one’s signal. This is what we install wherever cable can be run.
- Steady performance on every floor
- Needs cable run to each point
How we do it
- 1
You tell us where it fails
Which rooms, at what times and with which devices. That alone narrows it down before we come.
- 2
Visit and measurement
We measure the signal in those areas and check what speed actually reaches the router. Sometimes the problem is not the WiFi.
- 3
Proposal with a fixed price
What is needed, where each unit would go and what changes in each area. If moving the router is enough, we say that too.
- 4
Installation and verification
We install, configure and measure the same spots again, so the improvement is shown rather than assumed.
Rather talk it through?
If it is quicker to explain over the phone than to write it down, give us a call. You get a technician directly, not a salesperson who passes it on.
Frequently asked questions
Would a 30 € repeater not do?
For one specific corner it might. The catch is that a repeater rebroadcasts what it receives: put it where reception is already poor and it spreads a poor signal. Many also halve the speed. In a two-storey house it usually works out cheaper to do it properly once than to keep chaining repeaters.
Do you guarantee coverage throughout the house?
We design and verify coverage across the areas we agree with you, and we prove it by measuring before and after. Promising full coverage in any circumstance would not be honest: there are basements, outbuildings and gardens you only reach by running cable, and that is decided knowing what it costs.
Can you make it faster than the speed I pay for?
No. Nobody can: the ceiling is set by your provider. What we do check is what speed actually reaches the router, because sometimes a house is slow because of WiFi and sometimes because the contracted speed is not arriving. Those are two different problems and it is worth knowing which one you have before spending.
Does running cable mean building work?
Not always. It is often solved with trunking, a suspended ceiling or an existing conduit. When chasing the wall is the only route we tell you beforehand, with the price difference, and you decide.
What about the garden, terrace or pool?
It can be covered with an outdoor-rated access point. It is a separate job from the indoor work because the equipment differs and cable usually has to be run out there, so it is quoted separately.
What equipment do you install?
Managed WiFi 6 access points running on Omada, which lets every point in the house be administered as a single network and changed without going unit by unit. If you already have equipment worth keeping, we look at that before proposing anything new.
Shall we start by measuring?
Tell us which rooms it fails in and what the house is like. That is enough to point you somewhere, and if a visit is needed we agree a day and time.
